OpenSocial

Google`s new API called OpenSocial unifies the whole lotta web 2.0 APIs and tries to abstract it behind one common API. This is very nice. With this one need not sit and read n number of APIs.

JBoss Communications Platform

At work, for a SIP project, we started with NIST SIP stack and then settled for Weblogic Communications Platform. At that time, mobicents was in initial stage. Now redhat has packaged it as JBCP and it supports JSLEE too apart from J2EE.

flex builder for linux

Adobe Flex is one of the niche frameworks for building RIA apps. Now adobe has pumped it by making the builder available for Linux too. Great !

LinuxBIOS

LinuxBIOS is an open source BIOS which is designed to replace standard BIOS currently available in market. It claims to boot the payload in 3 secs. I hope we will get the same kinda exp of booting a phone or TV etc after these kinda BIOS !!!

vakow


i use bluetooth interface to take a backup of my precious SMSes. sometimes i have been forced to delete when i forget to backup or my inbox is full. Those times i used to think of remote backup of SMSes. vakow has done it. It has also built a web 2.0 social community around it. very cool.

SCTP

After TCP and UDP, there is one more protocol which is widely used but not as popular as their peers. Its called SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) which has goods of both TCP and UDP. Its also optimized for multiple streaming which is very much needed for Video Streaming over IP.

FAN

Initially it was LAN and then NFS triggered the file sharing which followed by NAS and SAN. Now comes FAN - File Area Network. Its more file oriented by providing replication, centralized control etc.
